Photographer EJ Carr was educated at The Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh and the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, and guest lectures at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology. His fashion and portrait photography has included prestigious clients such as Warner Brothers Records, EMI Christian, Reprise, NBC, ABC, CBS, USA Today, USA Networks, Neiman Marcus, Lane Bryant, Marzotto, Tamotsu, Levis, and Donald Trump. His celebrity portrait client list is extensive. Most recently he has work placed in the finals of the Irish Photographic Awards by Irish Hair Dresser and has photographed for Prudence Magazine, Hot Press and most recently The Independent on Sunday.
His work lately has focused on the boundary between fashion/pop art and fine art photography. With his move to Ireland he has progressively investigated iconic imagery whether religious, mythical Ireland, landscape or sexual and has attempted to represent those icons in a way that reflects their different levels of meaning and significance. In the process he has taken his own practice away from the demands of the assignment into a deeper exploration of images that somehow, perhaps inexplicably, elevate life.
At present he is working on a variety of personal projects related to both his commercial and his fine art practice.
E J has relocated to Denver Colorado to pursue his career commercially and to develop his personal image collection.
