TNC Pine Butte Swamp Preserve, Montana. At twilight a grizzly sow moves along a game trail connecting wetland and prairie. These bears once roamed widely across the Plains until extirpated in the early 20th century. Today, the secluded prairie and wetland habitats along the Rocky Mountain Front are their last prairie refuge.
